These terms govern your use of WakaMate. Please read them carefully before using our platform.

Welcome to WakaMate. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WakaMate mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By using WakaMate, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Please read these Terms carefully. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform.

About WakaMate

WakaMate is a platform that connects customers with vetted, skilled artisans for home and office services including plumbing, electrical work, cleaning, AC repair, handyman services, carpentry, appliance repair, roofing, tiling, and more.

Note: WakaMate acts as an intermediary and technology provider. We do not directly provide the services performed by artisans. Artisans are independent service providers.

Eligibility

To use WakaMate, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age
Have legal capacity to enter agreements
Provide accurate information
Comply with applicable laws

By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

Account Registration and Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Ensuring your account information is accurate and up to date

WakaMate is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.

Services and Bookings

aService Requests

Customers can browse available services, view artisan profiles, and book services through the Platform. All bookings are subject to artisan availability and acceptance.

bService Delivery

Services are performed by independent artisans. WakaMate does not guarantee the quality, timeliness, or outcome of services, though we strive to vet and maintain high standards among our artisan network.

cCancellations and Rescheduling

Cancellation and rescheduling policies will be communicated through the Platform. Late cancellations may be subject to fees as outlined in the app.

dInspections

For certain services, WakaMate may offer or require an inspection before work begins. Inspection fees and policies will be clearly stated.

Payments and Pricing

Pricing

Service prices are displayed in the app and may vary based on service type, location, and complexity. Prices are subject to change, but you will be notified before confirming a booking.

Payment Methods

Payments can be made through approved payment methods including credit/debit cards, bank transfers, or other options available on the Platform.

Subscriptions

WakaMate offers subscription plans (WakaMate Plus, Pro, Pro+) with recurring billing. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled.

Refunds and Credits

Refunds and credits are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact our support team for assistance with disputes or service issues.

User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users or artisans
  • Provide false, misleading, or inaccurate information
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's operation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access
  • Use automated systems without permission
  • Post harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content

Violation of these rules may result in account suspension or termination.

Artisan Terms

Independent Contractors

Artisans on WakaMate are independent contractors, not employees. They are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and compliance with local regulations.

Vetting & Standards

Background checks, skill verification, and ongoing monitoring

Ratings & Reviews

Customers may rate artisans. Reviews must be honest and respectful.

Earnings

Payment according to schedule. Platform fees may be deducted.

Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform, including text, graphics, logos, images, software, and design, is the property of WakaMate or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

Privacy

Your use of WakaMate is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Platform Provided "As Is"

WakaMate provides the Platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties about accuracy, reliability, or availability.

No Guarantee of Service Quality

While we vet artisans, WakaMate does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of services. Users engage artisans at their own risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WakaMate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Platform.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WakaMate and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with WakaMate, please contact us first at support@wakamate.ng to seek an informal resolution.

bGoverning Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Abuja, Nigeria.

cArbitration

For disputes that cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to submit to binding arbitration in accordance with Nigerian arbitration laws.

Termination

WakaMate reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account for:

Violation of these Terms
Fraudulent or illegal activity
Abuse of Platform or users
Non-payment or chargebacks

You may also terminate your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting support.

Changes to These Terms

WakaMate may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date and notify you through the Platform or via email.

Continued use of WakaMate after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

Miscellaneous

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and WakaMate.

Severability

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force.

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver of that right.

Assignment

You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign at any time.
